Tech Helper gives general guidance on everyday technology. It will never ask for your passwords, codes, PINs or bank details, and you should never type them into this chat.

I got a text saying my bank account is locked and to tap a link. What do I do?

Well done for checking first! 1. Do not tap the link or reply. 2. Banks do not ask you to log in from a text. 3. Call your bank on the number printed on the back of your card. 4. Delete the text. You have done exactly the right thing.

Thank you. How do I block that number?

On most phones: open the message, tap the number or name at the top, then tap Block. Would you like the steps for iPhone or for Android?
